Hosted by Burnley College’s apprenticeship training provider, Themis, the annual awards recognise the achievements, passion and innovation demonstrated by apprentices across a wide range of industries.
Amber, who joined HycAero in 2022 as a Material Laboratory Technician, is currently in the final year of her BEng Mechanical Engineering degree. Her dedication, technical ability and commitment to continuous learning have earned her recognition as one of the region’s most promising engineering professionals.
The Manufacturing and Engineering Award celebrates apprentices who are making a significant impact within the sector. Judges described Amber as a standout winner, praising her passion to excel, resilience, determination and outstanding communication skills. They also highlighted her enthusiasm for engineering, commitment to developing her knowledge and willingness to support and mentor others.
The awards ceremony brought together more than 200 nominees, alongside their families, friends and employers, to celebrate apprenticeship success. Guests also heard from keynote speaker Carole Garrett BEM, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Burnley Business Awards, who shared her inspiring journey through the aerospace industry.
Reflecting on her achievement, Amber said:
Winning this award is the biggest achievement of my career so far. I would like to thank HycAero for giving me this opportunity and taking me on as a degree apprentice.
Amber’s success reflects the talent, dedication and ambition that apprentices bring to the engineering industry, and everyone at HycAero congratulates her on this well-deserved achievement.
