The invitation was extended by The Rt Hon Gillian Keegan MP, then Secretary of State for Education, as part of an event celebrating organisations and individuals helping to shape the future workforce through technical education and apprenticeships.
Stephen and Grace attended alongside Neil Burrows, Director of Skills and Innovation at Burnley College, one of HycAero’s valued training partners. The event was hosted by Antony Higginbotham MP and included a guided tour of the historic Palace of Westminster. During the visit, guests had the opportunity to observe proceedings in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords before attending the reception at Downing Street.
During the event, Gillian Keegan MP spent time speaking with Stephen and Grace about HycAero’s commitment to skills development and workforce training. As a former degree apprentice herself, she was particularly interested in learning more about Grace’s apprenticeship journey and the opportunities available through technical education in Burnley.
Commenting on the event, Gillian Keegan MP said:
Antony is a huge champion for skills in Burnley. It was fantastic to celebrate the brilliant work going on across the country to develop the skills our local communities need to grow the economy. It was wonderful to meet providers, businesses and those doing T Levels and apprenticeships at Downing Street.
It was brilliant to meet Grace and hear more about how she is benefitting from high-quality technical education in Burnley.
The visit highlights the importance of collaboration between employers, education providers and government in creating opportunities for the next generation of skilled professionals. HycAero remains committed to investing in apprenticeships, technical training and career development, helping to build the engineering talent needed for the future.
T Levels are technical qualifications available in England, developed in collaboration with employers to provide students with the knowledge and skills required by industry.
